The deadline to register to vote and change your party affiliation for Florida’s state primary on August 30th primary is today. You can do that online but just make sure you do it on time. The deadline to register for the Nov. 8th general election is Oct. 11th.
OneBlood Florida will now test all donations for the Zika virus. There are four suspected cases of the virus in the Miami area that are apparently not travel related. Tests of donations will also be done in all blood collections Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.
A delegation from the Cuban Embassy was in St Petersburg this weekend to take a look at potential sites for a consulate. No deadline is set to choose a city, and we don’t know how many cities are in the running.

Sad new statistics from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. So far this year, 71 manatees have been hit and killed by boats. One thing being blamed for deaths is the rise of polluted waterways where the manatees used to live.
There was just one winner for that massive Powerball jackpot on Saturday. The winning ticket was sold in New Hampshire and is worth $487 million.
