There’s a change in the panhandling restrictions in parts of Tampa. A District judge ruled Friday that the current ordinance that bans panhandling in areas like downtown Tampa, Ybor city, and some bus and trolley stops was unconstitutional. That judge said that asking for money was a form of free speech, and therefore protected under the First Amendment.
The widow of a St Pete Police Officer who died in the line of duty has donated body armor for 40 officers that is much lighter and stronger. Jeffrey Yaslowitz died in 2011 along with Sgt. Thomas Baitinger. Yaslowitz’s widow Lorraine Yaslowitz-Marino, made the donation.
Reclaimed water restrictions have been lifted in the northern sections of Pinellas County. One additional day has been added to the regular schedule.
A kitten that flew out of a truck on the Howard Frankland Bridge Sunday morning was rescued through the combined efforts of Claudette Zoll, of Lithia, the Florida Highway Patrol, the St Pete Fire Department and a Road Ranger. The frightened kitten ran up into the wheel well of Zoll’s car where it was eventually coaxed out. Zoll has adopted the kitty, naming it Miracle.
