Winning Bids Announced For Hillsborough Sports Complex

Hillsborough County Commissioners gave their approval to companies that will help build a big sports complex in eastern Hillsborough County. The Times says the winning bids came from Nelson Construction Co. and Stantec. Their plans called for a $12.9 million complex that will be made up of 16 soccer fields with locker rooms all fully lit, parking for 1,200 cars, as well as plenty of room for food truck concessions, and other vendors.

Clearwater Gold Medal Olympic swimmer Melanie Margalis was greeted at Tampa Airport yesterday by lots of family and friends. She graduated from Countryside High School and won the medal in the women’s 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay. She plans to race again in 2020. And Tampa resident won gold in Rio. won the long jump final Wednesday night. It was a career-best jump for Bartoletta – 23 feet.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay has a $500 reward out for the person who stole a puppy from them. A man dressed in women’s clothing took the Jack Russell Terrier named Iris Wednesday afternoon.
