Pinellas County has its first confirmed case of a non-travel related case of the Zika virus. They won’t say who the person is or where they live until they know if there are any more people infected. That search will also include Hillsborough County. County officials are going to spray for mosquitoes in Pinellas and Hillsborough.
The city of Tampa already has code enforcement officers going through neighborhoods armed with “dunks” that are dropped into standing bodies of water to destroy mosquito breeding grounds. Mayor Buckhorn said if you see problems in your neighborhood to call the city at 813-274-5545.
Dunedin City Commissioners did not make a decision on what the new Dunedin Causeway at yesterday’s meeting. The Times says the vote was delayed because City Commissioners wanted more information. They’ll meet again at a later date.
Stormtracker Ten, from WTSP 10 News is also keeping an eye on a tropical system that’s known as 99L for now. There’s a chance as it moves over the Bahamas this weekend that could develop into our next named storm and possibly make a northern turn when it passes over south Florida and move up the Florida coast.
