The Bucs let a ten point lead slip away and lost in their home opener at Raymond James Stadium Sunday to the Rams 37-32. That leaves the team with a 1-2 record with the next game at home against the Denver Broncos Sunday with a 4:05 pm kickoff.
Up to 50 good Samaritans pitched in free a nine year-old girl who was trapped under an SUV that rolled over after an accident Saturday on 75 near Gibsonton Drive. The driver and two other passengers, all from Port Charlotte were able to get out on their own and are out of the hospital. The 9 year-old is listed in fair condition.
Miami Marlins player and Alonso High graduate Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident Sunday in Miami. He was with two other men in a boat that hit a jetty, killing all three. The Marlins canceled Sunday’s game.
A golfing legend passed away over the weekend. Arnold Palmer had played in The Masters golf tournament for the past 50 years. He died in Pittsburgh at age 87.
There’s a tropical system moving toward the coast of South America that has a good chance of becoming the next named storm. Forecasters think it will become a tropical depression later this week. Check the Dove Hurricane Guide for the latest information.
New rules go into effect soon in an effort to protect us from skimmers, like those that have been found at area gas station. Starting Oct 1st, security seals must be on all pumps. Make sure you’re checking the pump before you gas up and let the station know there’s a problem
