Matthew On Track For Florida East Coast

New South Hurricane-Guide-Slider-WDUVMatthew weakened to a Category 3 hurricane as it passed over Cuba Tuesday evening. The track has the storm heading toward the Bahamas making that northwest turn taking toward the east coast of Florida. A hurricane warning is up for parts of the east coast, and in the bay area Polk county in under a Tropical Storm Watch since those winds are expected to reach that far inland. President Obama has postponed his visit to Tampa and Miami due to the weather. The White House said they will try to reschedule those visits.

Florida Fish and Wildlife have opened an official investigation into the sewer discharge by the city of St Pete. A story in the Tampa Bay Times quotes wildlife commission spokeswoman Susan Smith as saying once all their investigation is done they plan to release their findings on exactly why and how the city discharged nearly 200 million gallons of untreated or partially treated sewage into Tampa Bay and Boca Ciega Bays.

clownszOne of the alleged creepy clown suspects has been arrested in Pasco County for online threats, and it’s a 12 year old boy. He will be tried as an adult. Those threats were made against Seven Springs Middle School and the boy said he thought it was funny. Sheriff Chris Nocco did not.

If you take the Crosstown Expressway get ready for a brief tomorrow afternoon. The Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority said they will close the Expressway on Thursday from noon to 2:30 p.m. from downtown Tampa to US 301.
