POLK COUNTY remains under a Tropical Storm warning and some shelters will be open at 1 pm. The Emergency Operations Center opened this morning. Keep this link handy for shelters, sandbags and more.

 

one-bloodONE BLOOD will shut down all operations along the east coast of Florida and that means other donor centers will be asking for additional donations. Please check here to find your closest donation center. There is a special need for platelets, AB Plasma, as well as O Negative and O Positive blood.

 

SANDBAGS are available for residents of Polk, Hillsborough and Manatee counties. We have the list from our partners at WTSP News 10. It’s also a good idea to “like” your school on social media as well as your school district for up to date information.

CLOSURES Polk County schools are closed today and Friday, and all after school activities and sports are also cancelled along with adult evening classes. For additional closures, we have the most current list from our partners at 10 News WTSP.

 

gasPERSONAL SAFETY Avoid price gouging and report those who try to take advantage of others in a serious situation. Think it’s no  big deal to charge more for something? Think again. You can be fined $1,000 per violation and up to $25,000 for multiple violations during the same 24-hour period.
