The deadline to register to vote in Florida has been extended yet again so you have Tuesday, October 18th to register to vote in the November election. A federal judge made the call initially to extend it for just one day after the Florida Democratic Party had asked for a full week extension due to Hurricane Matthew.
The alleged abductor of four year old Rebecca Lewis of Lakeland will be extradited back to Lakeland. West Wild Hogs was former friend of her family and had shown up their home Friday and disappeared with Rebecca on Saturday. Hogs is now in the custody of the FBI
Governor Rick Scott has ordered an investigation into our recent sewer spills following Hurricanes Hermine and Matthew. The Governor wants answers from Environmental Protection Secretary Jon Steverson to explain exactly why millions of gallons of sewage went into the waters in the Bay area and other areas in Florida and how to prevent it from happening in the future.
The results from a company testing the radiation levels of well water near the site of the Mosaic sinkhole showed what they term higher-than-drinking-water levels of radiation in a few well, but there’s no definite proof that is a result of the sinkhole spilling radioactive water into the aquifer. The private company doing the testing will be checking on more wells in the area.
The rideshare company Uber is now a partner with the Tampa Bay Lighting. Now at all home games as well as concerts fans can be dropped off and picked on in the Uber lanes on Channelside Drive between South Florida and South Morgan Streets. The Hillsborough PTC is still trying to work out official rules for ridesharing services like Uber, but there will be a vote on a temporary agreement on November 9th. So for now PTC says those ridesharing companies are operating illegally.
Hurricane Nicole is a Cat 4 storm, and is heading for Bermuda. The storms is moving pretty fast and should past the islands sometime later today.
