Bolts Open The Season With A Win

The Lightning open the season with a win against the Detroit Red Wings last night. It was the season opener for both teams but the Bolts came out on top 6-4. They are back in action at Amalie Arena Saturday night against New Jersey.
A Hillsborough county teen died in a hit and run crash after leaving her job Wednesday, and the man who allegedly hit her left the scene to file an insurance claim for the crash. It was his own insurance agent who because suspicious when Nikolaos Konstantinou of Clearwater reported the damage to his car. A Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputy was fired for trying to sell his department issued weapon and stealing drugs while working. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says he fired Deputy Steven Smith who was actually working as a narcotics detective. Smith admitted to his drug addiction which may have started with a back injury, and now faces grand theft and drug possession charges.
Florida health officials have confirmed a new area of local transmission for the Zika virus in a smaller area of Miami-Dade County. It’s relatively small, just one square mile but five people have the virus, and all are non-travel related.
The deadline to register to vote in Florida has been extended yet again so you have Tuesday, October 18th to register to vote in the November election. A federal judge made the call initially to extend it for just one day after the Florida Democratic Party had asked for a full week extension due to Hurricane Matthew.
Amazon Prime members now have the convenience of one hour restaurant delivery service in Tampa. Amazon says for
now there are no menu markups or service fees and it’s only available in the Tampa area. Pinellas is not on the menu for now. UberEATS launched their own home delivery service in Tampa last month.
