The Florida Department of Environmental Protection now has an agreement with Mosaic for the plant to seal the sinkhole, make sure all the contaminated water is removed from the aquifer and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Mosaic will have to put up $40 million dollars as a guarantee they complete that agreement and could face fines of up to $10,000 per day if they don’t.
The future of the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Committee will be discussed this morning after a lot of debate over how the rules for ridesharing companies were handled among other things. The city is considering completely severing ties with the PTC. That emergency meeting is scheduled for later today.
The World Series gets underway tonight. The Cleveland Indians taking on the Chicago Cubs in game one at Progressive Field in Cleveland. It’s also game one for the Cleveland Cavaliers new season, so traffic in downtown Cleveland is expected to be very congested.
There’s a new development proposed for six acres in downtown Tampa right across from the University of Tampa. The Hillsborough River Realty Company has submitted plans for a mixed-use development they’re calling Lafayette Place. Three towers would hold office, retail and residential space.
It’s real – Girl Scout Cookie Cereal. Starting after the first of the year you’ll be able to buy Caramel Crunch which tastes like the Samoa cookie, and then there’s the Thin Mints cereal. General Mills won’t say too much about the new cereal additions for now.
