Big Cat Rescue Takes In Five Tigers

big-catBig Cat Rescue has five new tigers at their site in Citrus Park in Tampa. The tigers were moved into their new quarters yesterday. They came from an animal sanctuary in Colorado that had to close after many of the animals there had health issues and they weren’t prepared to handle them.

Moffit Cancer Center is about to spend $800 million dollars on an expansion project that will add a new wing to the center along with two research building, a clinical support building as well as additional outpatient facilities. Construction will begin next year starting with the clinical support buildings and continue over the next ten years. There’s more on the story in the Tampa Bay Times.

Tampa PD released video of the brawl in Ybor City that ended with a car driven into the Bad Monkey Bar, injuring one man. The person driving the black Nissan ran away after causing some $15,000 damage to the bar. You can see the video here and if you have info for police please call them.

The American League of Bicyclists has honored the city of Tampa for being bicycle friendly. The bronze-level status was given for the city’s bicycle friendly laws, events and education.

lightningIt now looks like Lightning captain Steve Stamkos will be out anywhere from 4-6 months following surgery for a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee. The injury happened during Tuesday’s 4-3 win in Detroit.
