A Tampa woman is charged with making death threats against the father of a boy killed in the Sandy Hook shootings. A story in the Tampa Bay Times says not only did Lucy Richards send emails, she left voice mails for Lenny Pozner who lost his six year old son Noah. Prosecutors say Richards is part of a group that believes that the shootings that killed 20 children and six adults never happened, and will be in federal court for a hearing on the 19th.
USF head football coach Willie Taggart made it official yesterday, after ESPN broke the story that Taggart is leaving for the head coaching position at Oregon. Co-offensive coordinators T.J. Weist will act as the interim football coach for the rest of the 2016 season.
Former astronaut and US Senator John Glenn is in The James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University, and supposedly has been there the past week. No one has said why he was admitted, just confirming he’s there. Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth in 1962.
After the Bucs beat San Diego Sunday 28-21 for their fourth win in a row and in a tie for the NFC South with Atlanta, the NFL decided to move their game on the 18th against Dallas into primetime with an 8:30 pm kickoff. The team comes home to Raymond James Stadium Sunday against New Orleans with a 4:25 pm kickoff.
We know who’s on the short list for the college football national championship game coming to Tampa. The final four are now Alabama, who will play Washington in one semifinal game, and Clemson taking on Ohio State in the second. All five Florida college football teams have bowl games to look forward to; it will be Florida and Iowa in the Outback Bowl in Tampa January 2nd, Florida State and Michigan in the Orange Bowl, USF and South Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl December 29th, UCF in the Cure Bowl against Arkansas State December 17th, and finally Miami playing West Virginia December 28th.
