Two Largo police officers were almost struck by a car, as they were working a traffic stop on the side of the road Wednesday. The unmarked SUV that Officer Matt Steiner and his partner were using was hit by 69-year-old Gary Allen Thomas who already has a pretty long rap sheet. It is the law in Florida that you must move over on lane for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road. You can see that video and more from 10 News here.
St Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman wants another $14 million for the pier project. A story in the Tampa Bay Times says that money will come from the international transportation terminal that was never built. There’s a meeting today at 8 am at City Hall. They’ll talk about the progress of the new pier and show off some updated designs along with new timelines.
Yahoo is admitting to another major hack, but this one happened back in 2013 and affected a billion user accounts. This is in addition to the one we heard about back in September that hit 500 million accounts. Yahoo doesn’t think bank account info was compromised but things like your name, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates and security questions and answers were.
Bucs QB Jameis Winston and the FAMU Marching Band will be a part of the MLK day parade January 16th. The only problem right now is if the Bucs make the playoffs, that day would be an away game. The parade has been reorganized and renamed the MLK Dream Big Parade and will include a block party that weekend as well.
The Bucs will take their 8-5 record, winning their last five games in a row on the road this weekend. Sunday’s game against Dallas has been moved into a primetime slot with an 8:30 pm kickoff.
