First Day Back At School – Three Bus Accidents

school_busIt was the first day back after winter break for Pinellas County school students, but there were three separate school bus accidents. One of those was carrying students from Lealman Innovative and their driver, 56 year old Dorothy Burse ended up being charged with DUI. Her bus had been hit by a car running a red light at 54th Ave North at 66th St N. If you saw that driver who took off call the FHP at 813-631-4020.

Another crash happened in Clearwater and the driver had to be cut out of the bus after another driver ran a red light, hit the bus which then hit a light pole. Joseph Morgan was the bus driver and he went to the hospital along with the driver charged with hitting him, Edward Burke. Both are expected to be okay and that wreck is under investigation.

Congress took the oath of office in DC yesterday. Four of those are new to the job from Central Florida and are Democrats from the I-4 corridor. Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist was also sworn in as a Republican.

Thom Stark, was the CEO of the Florida Aquarium from 2002 until he left to focus on health problems in 2015, has died of cancer at 68. Scott Rose, the COO of the Aquarium will take over for now. Stark leaves his wife and two children, and is being remembered by many as a great leader.
