Tonight is the night. The College Football National Championship in Tampa Monday at Raymond James Stadium with Alabama and Clemson on the field. Just a heads up that traffic is going to be a real challenge so you might want to take advantage of free Uber rides that AT&T will pick up the tab for. You’ll need to be patient since a lot of visitors will also be taking advantage of it. Use that Uber app and request “FOOTBALL” anytime between 11 am – 7 pm today. If you weren’t able to make it down to Spring Bayou in Tarpon Springs for the Annual Dive for the Cross on Friday, the young man who retrieved the cross and now is supposed to be blessed with a year of good luck was 18 year old Joseph Cooley, a senior at Tarpon Springs High School. 48 boys went into those chilly waters to try and find the cross.
Cold weather shelters were open again overnight to provide a warm place to sleep and a hot meal. But seven people who were serving hot meals in Lykes Gaslight Square Park Saturday afternoon were arrested for not having a permit. Tampa PD say that same group was passing out food earlier in the week and were warned then. The group Tampa Food Not Bombs says they’ll be back this week to serve vegan meal to the homeless regardless.
New Port Richey city officials are about to make doggie dining outdoors legal. The first reading on the issue passed last week, and on the 18th the second and final reading should make if okay for restaurants to allow dogs to be with their owners at outdoor table areas. The permit is $50 along with new regulations for restaurant owners.
