Gun Shop Robbed For The Second Time

gunFor the second time since last December a Lakeland gun shop has been broken into. Guns Galore on Highway 92 had almost 50 firearms taken. Thieves just broke a lock on the front door and took off with the guns. That store still has no video surveillance.

Governor Scott is looking at pay raises for probation officers. Starting salaries would rise some 10%. Some veteran officers haven’t had a raise in the past ten years. The Governor’s budget will be released today, and those proposed raises would have to be approved by the legislature.

Tbeach-advhe Governor has also approved $15.8 million for emergency beach and restoration projects for areas hit by Hurricane Mathew this past October. St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia and Brevard counties will split the funds. In Flagler County alone it could cost some $38 million to restore the dunes according to Flagler County Administrator Craig Coffey.

A Cuban delegation will be in Tampa this Wednesday and Thursday to talk more trade between Cuba and Florida. Governor Scott is already on record warning ports in Florida not to do business with what he called a Cuban dictatorship. There is no formal agreement yet between the Port of Tampa and Cuba.

ESPN says the former Bucs safety has a six-year contract, and is a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the third straight year. This year’s class will be elected Saturday at Super Bowl 51 in Houston when the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons. If New England wins it would be their 5th win overall, and the second in the last three years.

There are still delays and backups thanks to a problem with Delta over the weekend. Delta flights were grounded over the weekend for what the airline called “automation issues.”
