Bad news for fans of Outback, Carrabba’s, Bonefish and Fleming’s, restaurants all owned by the Bloomin’ Brands. The company said 43 underperforming stores will be closed but they have not identified which stores will close. At the same time the company also said they will open 40-50 new restaurants this year. Curtis Reeves was in court for day one of the “stand your ground trial” on Monday. Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Susan Barthle is hearing arguments from both sides on whether or not Reeves should face charged in the shooting death of Chad Oulson in a Wesley Chapel movie theater in 2014 over an argument about texting.
The brush fire in Polk County that has already burned over 5,000 acres and ruined a dozen homes and campsites is around 85% contained according to Polk County Fire and Rescue. The Florida Forest Service says they’ll be in Frostproof until that fire is 100% contained.
Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies were forced to shoot and kill Taylor Hodges in Brooksville Monday after calls from residents who said he was acting “erratically” and had already stabbed one dog. When Taylor threatened deputies with a knife he was shot. Toxicology results are pending.
A new survey from AAA shows the worst drivers are millennials. Its thanks in part to texting while driving, speeding and running red lights. Those in the 19-24 year old age group show an overwhelming amount know what they’re doing is wrong, and that’s the case in all groups surveyed. The lone exception? Seniors.
