Childs Off USF Football Team

University of South Florida defensive back Hassan Childs, charged with three cases of aggravated assault after what police describe as a road rage incident is no longer on the USF football team. Childs was shot three times Saturday night and is recovering from his injuries. A Florida House Committee did pass a bill to implement the medical marijuana constitutional amendment on Tuesday, but supporters aren’t entirely happy about it. Restrictions in the bill include a ban on smoking the drug or using in edibles, as well as vaping restricted to persons with a terminal illness.

Opening day for the Tampa Bay Rays at the Trop is this Sunday. But since it’s illegal to sell alcohol before 11 am on a Sunday, Ferg’s filed for a special exemption that was granted and will allow them to serve starting at 8 am. The game against the Yankees is sold out, but you can watch on ESPN. First pitch scheduled for 1:10 pm.

The Treasure Island Police Department are continuing their search for the pilot of an ultralight plane that flew within feet of boaters on Saturday. There’s a new recall out for Jose Ole beef taquitos. More than 35,000 pounds have been recalled for possible pieces of rubber and plastic in the frozen food. Some of that was shipped to Florida. If you think you have of that product, some look for the establishment number “Est. M-5590” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
