Manatees Off The Endangered List

The Manatee is no longer on the endangered list and that has some people worried. The ironic part of the story is that the announcement was made the day after Manatee Appreciation Day by The US Fish and Wildlife Service. The Save the Manatee Club has already made plans to file suit to overturn that decision.

The Pasco County Health Department has confirmed one case of tuberculosis. They are not saying who the person is but they are contacting anyone that would have worked with or around that person and to warn them of symptoms. We have more information for you from the Center for Disease Control and the Florida State Health Department.

Another important win for the Lightning last night as they took down the Redwings 5-3. The win leaves the Lightning a mere three points out for the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. There are just six games left for the Bolts in the regular season.

Opening day for the Tampa Bay Rays at the Trop is Sunday and it’s sold out. But for fans who wanted to start their tailgating early that was a problem for Ferg’s since it’s illegal to sell alcohol before 11 am on a Sunday, Fergs filed for a special exemption that was granted and will allow them to serve starting at 8 am. First pitch scheduled for 1:10 pm.

Kids are getting to school late, and the Hillsborough County School Board wants to change that. Bus schedules are being blamed so they’re looking into options such as changing the time school starts and ends. Right now the district is holding focus groups to get student and parent’s opinions. The board will meet at the end of April and take another look at the problem and recommendations from the district superintendent.
