The brush fire in Hernando County has burned over 1100 acres and is 90% contained as of the latest update in the Weekiwachee Preserve. Roads have reopened but Hernando County Fire Rescue advises anyone traveling the area, especially on Shoal Line Blvd. Real time updates are available on Twitter from Hernando County Fire Rescue @HernandoCoFire or the Florida Forest Service Withlacoochee @FFS_Withlacooch. One last word of advice – for those of you who have tried fly drones through the area DO NOT FLY DRONES in the area of the #Watertower fire in Hernando Beach. You’re interfering with the work of the firefighters.

Fire crews from Pasco County have two brush fires to deal with in the area of SR 52; one was near the Suncoast Lakes Subdivision and the other and bigger is in the Starkey Wilderness Preserve.
