State Of Emergency Declared In Florida

With more than 100 wildfires burning across the state, Governor Scott declared a state of emergency Tuesday. Pasco County is dealing with some, and county commissioners will consider a burn ban at today’s meeting. Hernando County Commissioners have already approved a burn ban.

 

Our once endangered manatees could see their population double over the next 50 years. The US Geological Survey model use for that report was also the once that took them off the endangered list.

 

The Bucs showed off plans for the third phase of a planned $150 million dollar renovation Tuesday. The team would have a locker room that triples the present space and fans would have access to a retail store open all year long among other planned improvements. Of that $150 million budget $29 million come from taxpayers.

 

David Letterman’s mother passed away on Tuesday. Dorothy Mengering was a show favorite, and was 95 when she died.

 

Tampa Bay Times Food Critic was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in criticism for her “Farm to Fable” series. There were three finalists for that award which went to the New Yorker’s Hilton Als.
