Tampa General Hospital has named their new CEO and he’s no stranger to the Bay area. John Couris brings over ten years of experience at high level positions in Pinellas and Pasco Counties, and most recently as a hospital executive from Jupiter. Couris will take over at TGH in September.
A meeting at the Port of Tampa brought officials together from MacDill AFB, Tampa airport, Tampa Police and Fire and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue to make sure the Port is safe in any storm. There’s another round of new water restrictions that went into effect yesterday despite our rainy weather. The Southwest Water Management District has these in place through August 1st, and what they call the ‘Modified Phase III Water Shortage Restrictions,’ mean there are only certain days that we can water our lawn, wash the car etc. Check here for your watering days.
There was another attack on a flamingo at Busch Gardens. 19 year old Julian Antonio Marquez, of Lehigh Acres was accused of throwing something at the flamingo and charged with animal cruelty. Busch Gardens says the bird should be okay. Another flamingo was attacked last year and died from the injuries. Pinky was known as the “dancing” flamingo.
There was no winner in Powerball Saturday so now Wednesday’s drawing is expected to grow to $375 million or more. That makes the 17th time the jackpot has rolled over since April 17th.
