Hillsborough County Commissioners Okay Marijuana Dispensaries

Hillsborough County Commissioners voted 6-1 to allow up to 19 medical marijuana storefront dispensaries to operate in the county. The proposal had been for up to 13.
Construction on the new St Pete Pier should begin soon, and the city is trying to decide if they should spend an addition $75,000 for a hanging rope sculpture from Janet Echelman who has roots in the Bay area. The city would prefer that private donations pay for the project, but engineers still have to figure out if it would work with the proposed design.

Palmetto City Commissioners gave the okay for a New Year’s Day Marathon that would take runners across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. If Manatee County gives their approval the race would start at the north end of the bridge’s rest area and head over to Palmetto’s Blackstone Park. Race organizers say the bridge has the lowest amount of traffic that day, and the bridge would only be closed from 6-9 am
