Developers will be transforming Channelside into “Water Street Tampa.” Renderings of the $3 billion dollar project were released Tuesday. This is a joint project between Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Microsoft’s Bill Gates Cascades Investments. Ground will be broken for the first building this fall.

The Tampa Bay Bucs will have a new place to practice at One Buc Place. A $20 million dollar indoor practice facility will have room for 3,500 fans and should be ready by September 10th when the regular season begins.

The Pasco County SPCA needs help to stay open. A GoFundMe page has been set up. The financially strapped animal shelter could close within the next 30 days. To help out, just click here.

It’s not a new scam but it’s popping up again this summer here in the Bay area. Scammers who say they’re with the IRS are calling to tell you you’re behind in taxes and threaten to have you arrested if you don’t pay up with one of those prepaid debit cards so popular with other scammers. If you get a call, you can contact the IRS yourself on their Impersonation Scam Reporting web page for more information.

Good news for summer travelers, and for those heading out for the 4th of July. Gas prices in Florida are at a 12-year low. You can find gas for under $2 per gallon here in the Bay area. The average price nationally is $2.33 a gallon.
