Official Cause Of Death Released For Snooty

The official cause of death for Snooty, who was the world’s oldest manatee on record in captivity at the South Florida Museum was drowning. Officials at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton said Snooty became stuck in an opening that led to an underwater maintenance area. That opening has been closed for five years and the investigation into how it opened continues.

 

It was a Clearwater man, Michael Bradley, who was behind the wheel of a semi and could face the death penalty. Ten people died inside the rig he was driving and dozens of others are in critical condition after they were trapped inside the truck with no air or water in San Antonio. Officials believe it’s a case of human trafficking.

 

The Florida Department of Transportation may lower the speed limit on some highways. It’s part of a program called the “Complete Streets” initiative and their mission is to lower pedestrian deaths. FDOT is looking for input and you can let them know how you feel about the possible changes here.

 

All the heavy rains over the weekend have delayed cleanup on the sinkhole in Land O Lakes. Pasco County Emergency Services have been trying to figure out what’s causing some anomalies around the huge sinkhole but they have to shut down when lightning is within ten miles of the site. Workers were back on the scene Monday.

 

The back-to-school sales tax holiday is coming up in August and computers will be back on the list. They were not last year. The holiday begins at midnight on Friday, August 4th and ends midnight on Sunday, August 6th.
