Sinkhole Repairs Still On Hold

Two weeks after a massive sinkhole opened in Land O Lakes, destroying two home, cleanup is still on hold. Core drilling tests will determine if and when it’s safe to begin cleanup. There’s also the matter of who pays for what. Some homeowners who are working with their own insurance companies have already received letters from the county stating they may be responsible for some of that cleanup.

 

An exploding Takata airbag may have been responsible for the death of a Pasco county woman earlier this month. Honda say the airbag did rupture in the Accord driven by Nichol Lynn Barker and the NTSA and the Florida Highway Patrol are continuing their investigation. Takata had recalled airbags starting in 2011.

 

Electronics any bigger than a cell phone will be subject to new security screenings at airports. Items like laptops will be screened separately but if you’re a Precheck lane passenger who won’t have to do that. The new measures will start in a matter of weeks, or possibly months.

 

The Florida Wildlife Commission says they know who’s behind a viral video that shows a shark being dragged behind a boat at high speed to its death. Since the FWC asked for help on social media they’ve received a lot of tips, and are still looking for more help. They ask you to call the FWC’S Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922. The back-to-school sales tax holiday is coming up in August and computers will be back on the list. They were not last year. The holiday begins next weekend at midnight on Friday, August 4th and ends midnight on Sunday, August 6th.
