Welcome back! Today is the first day of school for students in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Pay attention to those school zones and watch for school crossing guards. Hernando and Pasco County school students will be back next week.

Pinellas County schools have openings for nurses. They’re looking for LPN’s who will work full-time and have benefits, and that’s for elementary, middle and high schools. Click here for more information.

Using the bus in Hillsborough County may be a little tougher. The Hillsborough County Transit authority voted to approve the plan that will eliminate 20% of existing routes. The routes that stay will have buses stopping more often to try and make up for the loss of the other routes.

St Pete Beach city commissioners have voted to approve the sale of alcohol at the beachfront private property or waterfront hotels. Only registered guests would be able to buy drinks, so it’s still off limits on the public parts of the beach. This was the first reading on the issue. Another vote for final approval comes up later this month.

The Don Cesar Hotel in St Pete Beach has received national recognition as one of the top ten historic hotels. The list from USA Today places the celebrated pink hotel 7th with the top spot going to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan.
