Eighth Sinkhole Home Condemned

Crews finished removing debris and water from that massive sinkhole in Land O Lakes over the weekend, but not before another home was condemned. That brings the total number of homes lost to eight.

Hillsborough County Commissioners are scheduled to meet Wednesday. Once again the issue of removing the Confederate statue in front of the courthouse. They had voted to keep in place at the June meeting but scheduled more discussion.

Someone tried to kidnap a 16 year old girl walking on Himes, near Flora Avenue last week on the first day back in school. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office describes the suspect as a Hispanic male in his mid-30’s with a medium build. He was wearing a long sleeve white shirt with paint stains, khaki pants and a tan baseball hat. If you know anything call the sheriff’s office at 813-247-8200. Seven members of the Florida Gators have been suspended for the season opener against Michigan. That group includes quarterback Antonio Calloway. They were suspended for allegedly misusing school funds. The school has not issued formal statement on why they were suspended.

The Mote Marine Aquarium will hold a memorial for Snooty the Manatee next month. Snooty died when became trapped in equipment in the aquarium. The memorial will be held Sept. 10th
