There’s an inmate on the run in Hernando County. Joshua Holmes walked away from a work detail at the county landfill earlier this week and they think he stole a truck shortly after that. The heat is on for students in Hillsborough County students who don’t have AC to cool off. Citrus Park Elementary parents reported the issues last week and more complaints have come in from parents with students in Walker, Martinez and Davidsen Middle Schools. Schools are blaming old system for the problems.
Some school districts will give students time off on Monday to view the solar eclipse. Hillsborough and Pasco students can skip the whole day or parents will be allowed to pick them up for a half day. Students will need a note for the day off in Pinellas. The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority is looking for up to 1,600 volunteers to be a part of the Connected Vehicle Pilot Program set to kick off in May of 2018. An antenna and new rear view mirror will be attached to volunteer’s cars that can “talk” to other cars and traffic signals. The goal is a safer ride and if you do volunteer you’ll get a 30% discount on elevated lane tolls. Click here for more on the story.
