Tropical Storm Harvey has the Barbados getting ready for rough weather. The storm will be moving into the eastern Caribbean today. To track the tropics as we get into the busiest part of the hurricane season, just click here.

It’s not bad weather, but a solar eclipse that will have some kids getting time off from school Monday. Hillsborough and Pasco students will be permitted to skip the whole day or parents will be allowed to pick them up for a half day. Students will need a note for the day off in Pinellas.

An algae bloom in Old Tampa Bay is killing fish from Safety Harbor to the south end of the Bayside Bridge. Pinellas County Environmental Management says this isn’t out of the ordinary for this time of year. To report any issues where you live call the FWC’s Fish Kill Hotline at 800-636-0511 or log on to their web site.

The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority is looking for up to 1,600 volunteers to be a part of the Connected Vehicle Pilot Program set to kick off in May of 2018. An antenna and new rear view mirror will be attached to volunteer’s cars that can “talk” to other cars and traffic signals. The goal is a safer ride and if you do volunteer you’ll get a 30% discount on elevated lane tolls. Here’s where to get more information.
