Tampa Council Votes In Favor Of Marijuana Dispensaries

Tampa City Council voted 6-1 to allow medical marijuana dispensaries and process facilities within city limits at yesterday’s meeting. Charlie Miranda was the only one to vote against the measure.
That water main break will continue to keep the westbound lanes of Fletcher Ave from 75 to Telecom Parkway closed for some time. When that main broke it actually formed a cavern under the street.
Hurricane Harvey is a category two hurricane as of Friday morning and is heading straight for landfall in Texas. Evacuations are underway along the coastline for what is expected to be the first major hurricane to hit Texas since 2008. That storm was Hurricane Ike. There’s a bill under consideration in Tallahassee that would forbid anyone in the SNAP, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to buy soda. The Department of Children and Family Services needs federal approval first to stop SNAP users from using their assistance for soda. If the bill does pass it would go into effect July 1st, 2018.
Hotel guests will be allowed to drink alcohol on St Pete Beach. It was a unanimous vote by City Commissioners with a reminder if you’re not a hotel guest, you’re breaking the law if you drink on their beaches. The full story is in this morning’s Tampa Bay Times.
