Manatee and Sarasota counties are under a flood watch through this evening. A tornado tore through Manatee county Saturday night. That same system could become a tropical depression as it heads across the state and into the Atlantic. Disaster officials in Manatee County did open a few shelters last night and you may find some roads closed by flooding.

Hurricane Harvey has been downgraded but the torrential rains continue across the lower regions of Texas. At least two deaths are being blamed on the storm. Numerous water rescues continue, especially in the Houston area where no mandatory evacuation order was ever issued. Many local groups are heading to Texas lend a hand. To help the victims of Harvey we have a list of groups that you can make direct donations to here.

PETA is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whomever dumped a dog in the middle of a busy road in Seminole Heights and then just took off. That dog tried to chase the car and then ran into the woods and has not been seen since. For the full story and where to report information check the Tampa Bay Times.
