Snooty’s Death Called “Preventable Accident”

A report from the South Florida museum says the death of Snooty the Manatee was a “preventable accident.” They say the panel that allowed the world’s oldest manatee to pass into an area where he got stuck and drowned had loose screw that the staff was aware of. We have more on the story and the full statement from the Museum here. The Mote Marine Aquarium will hold a memorial for Snooty the Manatee Sept. 10th.

 

With more rain on the way this weekend flooding is a major concern in Pasco County for residents who live along the Anclote River. Sandbags are available at the West Pasco Government Center on State St. Make sure you bring your own shovel – it’s self-serve.

Colonel Chad Cronister is the new interim Sheriff in Hillsborough County. Outgoing Sheriff David Gee chose Cronister who will have to run for the job in November 2018 to officially take over the remaining two years of Gee who retires at the end of September.
