Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Interim Police Chief Brian Dugan will be on the streets of Seminole Heights tonight along with the trick or treaters. They will both be in Giddens Park to hand out candy before heading out into the neighborhood. Three unsolved, and possibly connected murders in the area have the city on edge. There is video of a suspect here and a $35,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Three people on a boat that capsized near the Sunshine Skyway has a Florida State Trooper and a Good Samaritan on a jet ski to thank for their rescue Sunday. There weren’t any rescue crafts in the area so Corporal Jim Covert who was on duty at the bridge and David Teichman were able to get all three to shore safely despite the rough seas.

TPD believe the shootings were random but the work of one person and have released new video of a person seen running away after the first shooting. The coldest air in six months has arrived in the Bay area. Mostly clear skies will keep temperatures in the mid 70’s today. And that tropical low will bypass the Bay area for the most part but may bring some rain this weekend.

The National Hurricane Center says an area of weather down in the Caribbean has a 50% chance of developing into a tropical system over the next few days. What it will definitely do is increase the rain chances for the weekend. Track any tropical activity in the Dove Hurricane Guide.

Our first real cold front of the year is on the way moving in overnight Tuesday bringing overnight lows into the 50’s here in the Bay area. North of us there may be lows into the 40’s.

A 24 year old Dunedin man is under arrest and charged with possession of destructive devices. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office had gone to Randall Drake’s home to serve a warrant on another charge and found more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition, numerous guns, explosives maps of many Hillsborough County Schools, and the County’s Wastewater Treatment plant. He’s being held on a $20,000 bond, but Sheriff Gualtieri said even if he does bond out he’ll be back in custody on a mental health evaluation.

A small plane made a crash landing in St Pete yesterday, just two miles from Albert Whitted Airport. Five people were hurt when it came down around 18th Ave South and 16th St South, none of those injuries considered serious. The flight originated in Tallahassee.
The Florida Department of Children and Families are concerned that some recipients might be taking benefits and then selling them. They’ve seen posts on Craigslist and Facebook. Investigators have been screening those who come to apply and if they’re caught committing fraud denies benefits on the spot.

The Hillsborough County School has approved the proposed new start time for students starting with the 2018-2019 school year. You can see the full list of those changes here. Superintendent Jeff Eakins sad the changes were necessary to avoid students getting to class late.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office busted 20 unlicensed contractors during “Operation Nailed.” Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said the sting also resulted in 58 charges, and that’s only two months into the program.
