Gainesville Native Tom Petty Dies At 66

Gainesville native Tom Petty died Monday of a massive heart attack Monday. Petty was at Amalie Arena in May for the 40th anniversary tour with the Heartbreakers. He died in Malibu, with family, friends and bandmates at his side.

It’s the biggest game of the year, and it’s on prime time. The Buc’s Thursday night’s game against New England is sold out. As part of that game the team will honor the late Bucs owner Malcolm Glazer with induction into the Ring of Honor.

This came as a surprise to a lot of cyclists and runners. A portion of the Pinellas Trail has been closed for repairs to a pedestrian bridge. It spans Alt 19 at Orange St in Dunedin. It’s over 25 years old and in need of repairs. Demo and repairs will take 3-5 months at a cost of $1.5 million dollars.

The Florida Keys are back in business. Tourists were allowed back after Hurricane Irma damaged or destroyed up to 25% of all the homes in the Keys

You’re now able to register to vote online for the first time in Florida. The Division of Elections office hopes more voters will register since this makes it a lot more convenient to actually register. You’ll need a valid state ID or driver’s license to register.
