Gov Scott Issues State Of Emergency Order At UF

Florida Governor Rick Scott has declared a state of emergency in advance of a speech by whit nationalist Richard Spencer. That speech is scheduled on the campus of the University of Florida Thursday. The University has already said they expect to spend up to half a million dollars on security. That order will allow for security from state and other local agencies.


The rest stops at both ends of the Sunshine Skyway are being renovated at a cost of $1.8 million dollars. The work should wrap up in 2018. The southbound rest stop is already closed with demo work. When that side is down, the northbound side is next and that will include work on the seawall as well.


Jameis Winston was hurt in Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and left the game in the second quarter. He’ll have an MRI later today on his right arm. Ryan Fitzpatrick took over for Winston with a final score of 38-33. The Bucs are now in last place in the NFC South.


The family that owns Brady the dog that escaped her crate at TIA while being loaded onto a Delta flight is now offering a $1,500 reward for her safe return. Brady is chipped but not wearing her collar and they’re concerned she’s hurt and scared so if you see here, please call 441-704-7199, or Animal Control at 813-997-5307. 


The Hillsborough County School District’s proposed class schedule was released for the 2018-2019 school year last week, and today they will vote on those changes. The proposed schedule has high school students starting their day an hour later among other changes. The School Board will vote on the changes at 3 pm at the district headquarters on Kennedy Blvd.
