High Seas Rescue Near The Skyway

Three people on a boat that capsized near the Sunshine Skyway has a Florida State Trooper and a Good Samaritan on a jet ski to thank for their rescue Sunday. There weren’t any rescue crafts in the area so Corporal Jim Covert who was on duty at the bridge and David Teichman were able to get all three to shore safely despite the rough seas.


Jim McElwain is out as coach of the University of Florida Gators. McElwain said he and the team have received death threats. The team had their third straight loss this weekend. Defensive coordinator Randy Shannon will act as interim coach.


Lakeland Electric has sent 20 workers to Puerto Rico to help restore power after Hurricane Irma decimated the island. And the Suncoast Animal League has also returned to rescue pets left behind. They are accepting donations and to see how you can help just click here.
