Hundreds of Hillsborough County School students walked out of class yesterday, protesting the pay raises that were not given to teachers. That pay raise could have amounted to some $4,000 but the County School Board said that money just isn’t available, and is needed for other projects like technology and training. Negotiation with teachers are ongoing.
Homeowners in Land O Lakes heard from county leaders yesterday on how the investigation is going on that massive sinkhole that opened in their neighborhood almost four months ago. USF investigators want to bring in special equipment to continue studying the sinkhole and what might have caused it. More meetings are planned.
New video is out apparently showing two time Cy Young award winner and Bay area resident Roy Halliday’s plane flying very close to the water before crashing into the Gulf off New Port Richey. The NTSB is investigating.
Metropolitan Ministries holiday tent is open in downtown Tampa at the corner of Cass and Nebraska. The Suncoast Animal League returned from Puerto Rico with more than 100 dogs and a dozen cats that were left homeless after Hurricane Maria destroyed much of the island. Many of those rescued will be up for adoption this Saturday as part of Dogtoberfest at Highlander Park in Dunedin. Ann Kelly will host the events and has all the details here.
