There’s a winter storm warning up from Leon to Naussa counties in north Florida through noon today. FHP said today is not a good day to travel north through the area on I-10 and 75. A winter weather advisory affects residents in Leon county. Here in the Bay area it’s going to be windy, wet and cold.

Cold weather shelters have opened and there’s a good chance they will be open most of the week with near freezing overnight temperatures are predicted most of the week. We have a list of those shelters here and will keep them updated throughout the week.

It might be a good thing it’s not exactly beach weather. A twelve-foot great white shark that was previously tagged sent pings out in the Gulf not far from Tampa on New Year’s Day. She was nicknamed Miss Costa and has sent signals from Massachusetts all the way down to the Florida Keys.
