Without warning some Sam’s Clubs closed suddenly yesterday and one of them was the South Tampa location that held a meeting with employees. The store put a sign on the front door that said it would reopen Friday but close for good on the 26th

As Sam’s Club stores were closing their owner –  Walmart  – was raising hourly wages for some employees along with other benefits. Walmart said they want to focus on their “Mobile Express Scan and Go” app that may get you through the whole check-out procedure faster but could also cost more cashier’s jobs.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scam that’s going around again. You may get a call, or someone may leave a message telling you to call the Sheriff and if you do respond you’re told you owe money and if you don’t pay up they’ll come and arrest you. Here’s more on the story from ABC Action News.

The driverless shuttle that HART had hoped to have in place in time for the NHL All Star Game is on hold for now. That’s thanks to a dispute between Hillsborough County and the contractor. The contract has been cancelled and the county hopes to find another contractor to finish the project by the end of the year.

There will be plenty of familiar faces on the ice when the NHL All Star Game comes to Amalie Arena January 28th. Four players from the Tampa Bay Lightning are on the team, along with coach John Cooper for the Atlantic Division. Lightning Captain Steve Stamkos will make his 5th appearance along with Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman making their second, and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy in his first appearance.
