The next round of cooler weather has arrived in the Bay area. The chilliest temperatures will be overnight with a freeze watch already posted for tonight into tomorrow morning with lows possibly getting into the 20’s. But once we’re past that, the weekend is looking pleasant and warmer.

The drier, cooler weather is also expected to help make our wildfire season much tougher. Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam has already requested $20 million dollars to help the Florida Forest Service battle the blazes. We had more than 200 wildfires last year torching thousands of acres.

Flu season has hit hard and hit early this year in Florida. Two children have already died from the flu. The flu shot is only said to be around 10% effective but doctors say it can help the symptoms not be as severe.

The city of Tampa will hold a meeting January 23rd to get input on autism-friendly playgrounds. There are plans for three such playgrounds. If you’d like to join the discussion be at the meeting which starts at 6 pm at the Lloyd Copeland Park Community Center.

Kid Rock will be the featured star on the ice when the NHL All Star Game comes to Amalie Arena January 28th. He’ll perform during the second intermission. Four players from the Tampa Bay Lightning are on the team, along with coach John Cooper for the Atlantic Division
