Another night and morning with freeze warnings and watches in effects for the Bay area. We set a record low yesterday at Tampa International Airport and even had accidents triggered by black ice on the Veteran’s Expressway. The drier, cooler weather is also expected to help make our wildfire season much tougher. Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam has already requested $20 million dollars to help the Florida Forest Service battle the blazes. We had more than 200 wildfires last year torching thousands of acres.
Flu season has hit hard and hit early this year in Florida. Two children have already died from the flu. The flu shot is only said to be around 10% effective but doctors say it can help the symptoms not be as severe.
The city of Tampa will hold a meeting next Tuesday, January 23rd to get input on autism-friendly playgrounds. There are plans for three such playgrounds. If you’d like to join the discussion be at the meeting which starts at 6 pm at the Lloyd Copeland Park Community Center
