Shortage Of Shelter Space In Tampa Bay

The Tampa area does not have enough shelter space if threatened by a Category 5 hurricane. The 2018 report from the Statewide Emergency Shelter Plan specifically mentions Tampa Bay, Central Florida and Southwest Florida. You can read the full report here.

If your route to work takes you along Bayshore Blvd get ready for delays. Construction will have the southbound lanes closed between Gandy and Marlin Avenue Monday. Tampa Water Treatment hopes to have water pipeline repairs completed by Tuesday, and the roads reopened Wednesday.

Volunteers went into Tampa Bay to continue the Gasparilla Parade cleanup Saturday. Between Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, Green Gasparilla and scuba divers from Adventure Outfitters they pulled over 2,100 beads out of the bay and close to 300 pounds of trash.

The Straz Center released the lineup for the 2018-2019 Broadway season which includes the dates for “Hamilton.” The multi-Tony Award winning production is scheduled for February 12-March 10, 2019. The season will also feature “Dear Evan Hansen” which will be onstage April 9-14, 2019. For the rest of the season, check here.
