An incredible find in the Gulf of Mexico off Venice. Archeologists have found a 7,000 year old Native American ancestral burial site. The Florida Department of State said that diving is not allowed at the  Manasota Key Offshore site out of respect and to protect the site.

Heading out on I-4? The Florida Strawberry Festival opens today in Plant City so expect much heavier than normal traffic. It’s open 10 am to 10 pm daily and runs through March 11th.

Residents on St Pete Beach are concerned about people who bring their dogs to the North Shore beach. Dogs are not allowed on the beach and police can’t do anything unless they see owner and dog on the beach. So they’re taking pictures of them and sharing them on social media to put pressure on police to act.

It’s getting close to spring break at the beach and Clearwater Beach has already gotten a jump-start on traffic control with a ten week park and ride that’s free. It started this past Monday with shuttle rides to and from parking lots to the beach. Look for signs around town that will direct you to those lots. And if you’d rather take the ferry – which is not free –  the city plans to double the amount of boats.
