A brush fire in Hernando County is begin called suspicious. The weekend blaze on Kingbird Rd near 19 damaged three homes. Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. It is wildfire season in the Bay area.

A bill to allow teachers to carry guns, but does not a ban on assault rifles, will go before the Florida Senate  today after a rare weekend session. That  bill also carry a substantial amount of amendments.

You’ll be able to dive for scallops in Pasco County for the first time in 25 years starting in July. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission voted to add those ten days starting July 20th.

An incredible find in the Gulf of Mexico off Venice. Archeologists have found a 7,000 year old Native American ancestral burial site. The Florida Department of State said that diving is not allowed at the  Manasota Key Offshore site out of respect and to protect the site.

Traffic is getting heavier at the beach with spring break at the beach right around the corner and Clearwater Beach has already gotten a jump-start on traffic control with a ten week park and ride that’s free. It started this past Monday with shuttle rides to and from parking lots to the beach. Look for signs around town that will direct you to those lots. And if you’d rather take the ferry – which is not free –  the city plans to double the amount of boats.
