Brooksville Council Votes To Disband Police Department

It looks like the city of Brooksville is about to shut down the police department after a 4-1 vote in favor of the action at last night’s City Council meeting. The Hernando County Sheriff’s office would take over patrolling the city if that does happen. Council wants a plan in place by the end of April.




The Florida Senate has passed the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. That bill still has to go before the House and then to the Governor’s office before it can become law. It includes provisions for firearm and school safety and mental health. We have further details for you here.



It’s brush fire season and we’re begin warned that this year could be worse than 2017. A brush fire over the weekend Hernando County is begin called suspicious. The weekend blaze on Kingbird Rd near 19 damaged three homes. Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
