A former investigator for Child Protective Services working for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office was arrested and charged with falsifying records. Steven Urban resigned late last year, and was arrested based on reviews conducted by the PCSO.

Rain may help out with our dry conditions by Sunday, but it’s brush fire season and concerns are that this year could be worse than 2017. Debris left over from Hurricane Irma is a major factor. In  Pasco County there have been two brush fires in the last few days, and a brush fire last weekend Hernando County is under investigation. If you might know something about how that fire started Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

The Florida House followed the lead of the Florida Senate and have passed the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. It  now goes to Governor Scott’s office for review. It includes provisions for firearm and school safety and mental health. There’s another bill headed for Governor Scott’s desk that would keep us on Daylight Savings Time all year long. The Senate approved the measure, and if the Governor signs it, it would still need approval from Congress to amend the law as it stands now.
