This weekend you can freshwater fish without a license in Florida. Florida Fish and Wildlife holds the annual event to encourage anglers to get out and enjoy a day fishing. But saltwater fishing for free isn’t until June. Here’s the days you can head out and enjoy a day fishing for free.

It was a 4-0 shutout of Boston for the Lightning last night. Fans can look forward to those single game tickets for the first round playoffs for the Stanley Cup will going on sale Friday morning at 10 am. The Lightning have home field advantage for games one and two which will be sometime during the week of April 12th. The Lightning say they expect team captain Steve Stamkos to be ready to play after he left a game over the weekend with an aggravated lower body injury.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s office  came to the rescue of a five-year old German Shepherd swimming in the waters of the Intercoastal Waterway of Lemon Bay in Venice Monday morning. Rex’s owner never thought he’d see his friend Rex again, but kayaker Karen Mullen spotted Rex and with the help of the SCSO helped rescue the scared dog and return him to his grateful owner Bob Welter.

It might to tougher to find a spot on the sand soon. Starting July 1st access to the beach that’s behind private business and homes could be restricted.  What is considered the “dry sand” above the high tide line would be open to those private areas only. It’s the first time for beaches in Pinellas County to enforce the new law.
