Lightning Win Game One

The Tampa Bay Lighting take game one against New Jersey Devils last night at Amalia Arena 5-2. Game two is this Saturday at 3 pm at Amalie Arena. If you are still lookingfor tickets they are on sale here.

Hurricane Irma is being blamed for the rise in sinkholes across the state. We’re into what is considered “sinkhole season, and most experts are warning us that they expect to see a lot more thanks to the impact from the storm.

The Pinellas County School Board  has approved new start times that will have high school students in class at 7:20 am, just a little later than this year’s 7:05 am start. A slightly later start was also approved for middle and elementary students. Those few minutes will cost the district  close to a million dollars to add more bus routes and drivers. The new “No Straws St Pete” campaign kicked off  this week, with a mission to use less plastic.  Advocates are hoping to lessen the effects of plastic on our environment. Some 20 businesses are already on board. St Pete follows the lead of cities like Ft Myers, and California that already has a ban in place.
