Sales Tax Holiday Ends At Midnight

Tax-free shopping ends at midnight for Florida’s 2018 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. It’s a chance to get some supplies for your hurricane prep kit a little cheaper. You can see a full list of what is included here as well as what is not.



The driver of the second car involved in a drag race on Bayshore Blvd. will be charged as adult. John Barrineau is 17 years old and has been in the Juvenile Detention facility since being arrested along with 18 year old Cameron Herrin who struck and killed Jessica Raubenolt, and her 2-year-old daughter who died shortly after the crash.



The Hillsborough County School District and teachers have reached an tentative agreement for pay raises and benefits. Teachers will receive part of the raises they were promised but some bonus pay. There’s more on the story in the Tampa Bay Times.



SunPass is shut down for maintenance through this Monday, June 11th at 9 am. If you’re low on funds for your SunPass account you won’t be able to add more until the system is back on line. Tolls will still be charged and add back on to accounts when it’s back up as well.



You’ll notice more “wrong way” warning signs going up around the Bay area soon. FDOT  received at $300,000 grant and will start putting those signs up in July. Wrong-way driver calls doubled in Hillsborough County last month compared to the same time last year.



Tampa City Council Chairman Frank Reddick wants to get rid of the roosters in Ybor City. Reddick says he’s received complaints from residents about the noise the create and thinks people are actually bringing more birds and dumping them in the area. There’s already opposition to his proposal from
